ProGrass, LLC International Scout Bowl set to Showcase Local College Players
Eleven Pittsburgh Area College Players in March Scout Bowl Game
The NFL Combine in Indianapolis is over and now league scouts will turn their attention to the players participating in the inaugural ProGrass International Scout Bowl March 13, 2013, in Florence, Alabama. The game will feature 70 of the top prospects from across the U.S., Canada, Mexico and Europe.
Eleven former Pittsburgh area college players will showcase their skills for scouts including four players from California University of Pennsylvania, three from Indiana University of Pennsylvania, two from Edinboro University and one player each from Robert Morris University and the University of Pittsburgh, respectively. California University of PA Quarterback, Peter Lilach, will lead the North team. This past season he completed 171 passes for 2413 yards and 21 touchdowns. One of his teammates will be IUP defensive lineman Carl Thornton. In 2012 he registered 65 total tackles, 12.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Other area college players include Robert Morris defensive back Cam Chadwick, Edinboro tight end Shawn Walker and former University of Pittsburgh defensive end Tony Tucker. All participating players are considered later-round draft prospects or prospective free agents.
Two former Pittsburgh Panthers Head Coaches will play prominent roles. Both Johnny Majors and Mike Gottfried will be among the contingent of former college and pro coaches mentoring the players during the week and on gameday. Majors is the head coach for the South while Gottfried will serve as the team's quarterbacks coach. NFL Europe veteran and current South Florida coach Peter Vaas will lead the North team. Coaching consultants for the game include former Washington State Cougars and Miami Hurricanes Head Coach, Dennis Erickson, former Auburn Head Coach Pat Dye and former New England Patriots and Indianapolis Colts Head Coach Ron Meyer.
The ProGrass International Scout Bowl game was developed in part by ProGrass, LLC.
