Robert Thomas From Pro Grass LLC,
Elected As Synthetic Turf Council Chairman of the Board
New Board Elected At Recent Annual Membership Meeting
Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania – Robert Thomas, President of Pro Grass LLC was elected as the Chair of the Board for the Synthetic Turf Council (STC) during their Annual Membership Meeting in San Antonio, Texas on September 29 – October 1. Founded in 2003, the STC serves as an objective resource assisting buyers and end users with the selection, use, and maintenance of synthetic turf systems in sports field, golf and landscape applications throughout North America and abroad. His election as Chair, recognizes Robert Thomas’ leadership position within the industry overall.
“The Board sets the strategic direction of the organization,” notes Rick Doyle, President of the Synthetic Turf Council. “Considering the various changes that our industry is currently experiencing, Robert Thomas will play a critical role in guiding the growth and influence of the Council.”
Based in Pittsburgh, Pro Grass LLC, specializes in the manufacturing and installation of synthetic turf. The company has manufactured and installed over 500 full size athletic fields from the Texas border to the Arctic Circle for more than 12 years. Thomas has been especially committed to advancing the STC’s mission of maintaining the highest quality practices and standards throughout the industry.
“I am honored and accept the challenges that lie ahead as the newly elected Chair of the Synthetic Turf Council Board of Directors. The industry has had great leadership since the inception of the STC eleven years ago, largely because of the Board of Directors and the entire STC membership,” stated Thomas.
Thomas went on to add, “In my acceptance speech, I made it clear that this industry has had tremendous growth that is a result of a very diverse, educated and professional membership and “role up the sleeves attitude” from the Board of Directors. We as a membership continue to focus on the foundation of our Four Pillars: Advocacy, Education, Marketing and Membership. We have turned many issues over the years into organizational opportunities to better educate the general public and end users. We as an organization will continue to grow and strengthen our industry.”
“As individuals we have limitations, but as a strong organization we have none,” ended Thomas.
Demand has grown to the point where more than 8,000 multi-use synthetic turf sports fields are now enjoyed in North American schools, colleges, parks and professional sports stadiums. As the need for durable playing surfaces continues to escalate, especially those that do not require high water usage during times of drought, synthetic turf has become an increasingly popular solution to enhance athletic performance, deal with the issue of limited space in older cities and suburbs, and allow for multiple sports teams to practice and play on a grass-like surface.
