Turf Deal Struck Means Ironton Tigers will Kick-off 2014 on Synthetic Grass.
(Ironton, Ohio) On Monday, one of the most historic stadiums in the mid-west and the Fighting Ironton Tigers teamed up with national powerhouse ProGrass to provide a new synthetic turf system for the 2014 football season.
According to Athletic Director and Head Basketball Coach Mark LaFon, a committee comprised of members of the Ironton Turf Committee, the Tank Memorial Stadium Fund and the Booster group, the Tiger Clan came to the conclusion late Monday that ProGrass would be the provider of the new Turf System at Tank Memorial Stadium/Bob Lutz Field.
ProGrass of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was one of three companies who provided bids to the committee for a state of the art turf system. "We looked at it from every angle and are very pleased to be working with ProGrass, we visited fields installed by each company who bid and the committee was unanimous in their decision" said Ironton Schools Superintendent Dean Nance and a committee member.
Bobby Thomas, President of ProGrass said, "When we saw the opportunity to put our best field turf system in at Tank Memorial Stadium/Bob Lutz Field we jumped at the chance, this is truly a unique blend of old and new and something we really wanted to be a part of".
