EAST LANSING, Michigan – Michigan State University will break ground on a new ProGrass Turf field, which will be primarily used by the Spartan Marching Band as well as for intramurals, summer camps and other community activities. The field will be an exact replica of Spartan Stadium and will be located at the historic Munn Field.
"The most important thing is that the artificial surface of the new field will allow students to perform more consistently," says MSU Spartan Band Director John Madden. "It takes our band about three days to wear down our current natural grass field near Demonstration Hall. We're finally able to give students the surface a Big 10 marching band needs."
Michigan State University’s Munn Field is a popular location on campus and will be a great showcase for ProGrass.
“We are very excited to welcome Michigan State into the family,” stated Vice President of Business Development, Todd DeWolfe. “When you talk about some of the all-time greatest marching bands in the world, Michigan State is in that conversation. We are excited to provided them with a first class surface to practice their Spartan Pride.”
